MoonTails/ULTIMATE

Jade Audio has reverse engineered their revolutionary audio cables to build an entry level interconnect with many of the attributes of their all pure Gold Reference cable at an entry level price point. This resulted in the MoonTails. The MoonTails deliver the rich magic midrange of all their gold cables with a deep and wide soundstage which provides excellent imaging. Bass is tight and deep with superb dynamic transients. Highs are open and fully extended with nice colourful sparkle. Speed and tempo is very good with a well defined leading edge to the notes. The background is dark with very little noise or haze which delivers good separation and definition within the soundstage.

Piano is one of the most difficult instruments to properly reproduce. The MoonTails take on the challenge with excellent results. While the leading edge of notes is tight and well defined, a full body develops followed by a long rich decay. The high notes are free of any glare, yet are fully extended with a realistic vivacity. Midrange notes are portrayed as expected: lush, rich and liquid. Bass notes retain the excellent tight leading edge and pack a deep, powerful punch as the hammer hits the strings. The shape of the note is solid and full with again excellent decay.

Horns pose another tough instrument for electrically reproduced music. The MoonTails reveal a terrific bite and texture to the notes and offer a three dimensional, solid and lifelike image. The midrange truly excels, making for an excellent reproduction with a colourful presentation.

The most important aspect of music reproduction to Jade Audio are vocals. The MoonTails project these with excellence, beyond the competition. Here you will find a lifelike performance with the texture and depth of the human voice. The imaging shows its strength with a solid three dimensional appearance that is properly presented within the soundstage. This is where the true magic of gold comes to light, providing the quality presentation you would expect from Jade Audio.

The MoonTails are constructed using 99.99% pure gold plated OCC copper wire; and 99.99% pure silver plated OCC copper wire. These are used in combination to make up both the positive and negative conductors and are then sleeved and wrapped in Jade Audio’s patented design. Gold plated Furutech connectors are used to provide the best possible connection to your equipment.

Jade Audio firmly believe MoonTails shall become the entry level interconnect against which all other cables will be judged. It is simply remarkable what is possible for a very affordable price of $550.00 for a one meter RCA pair, and $800.00 for an XLR pair.

New for 2014 are the Ultimate MoonTails!

The Ultimate MoonTails are building on the strengths of the original MoonTails. With an already perfect recipe some extra ingredients were thrown into the mix and a whole different dish is being presented. The icing on the cake are the fabulous Majestic RCA connectors from Bocchino Technologies Audio Australia. They give the MoonTails an aesthetic boost while the sound approaches that of Jade Audio's top of the range cables. These interconnects rightly deserve their place on the upper echelons of affordable high-end.

OCC Explained: In 1986 the Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC) process was introduced. The world patent "UP-OCC" (Ultra Pure Copper by Ohno Continuous Casting Process) was developed by professor Ohno of Chiba Institute of Technology in Japan. This technology has been applied to the manufacturing of single crystallized copper with the process of heated mold continuous casting. The resulting products are small rods of OCC pure copper, from which the wire can be drawn and which can have Copper grains of over 700 ft. length.

Because of its characteristics of single crystal, unidirectional, free of impurity, flexible fatigue-resistance, corrosive-resistance, low electric resistance, none-crystal boundaries, rapid transmissibility, perfect in structure, and easy to process, all make it an ideal material for making rapid transmission lines.

Hybrid Gold

The Hybrid is our best selling interconnect and is a cost conscience design using 99.99% pure solid gold wire for the positive conductors and 99.99% pure solid gold and gold plated silver wires used in the negative conductors. The Hybrid is a full level beyond the Vermeil Gold, and for us, it was the first jaw dropping experience in our system since our first Plinius amp fifteen years ago. Every aspect of the Hybrid is beyond belief; the bass is tight, fully formed with a very sharp leading edge. On our Dunlavy IVA’s it sounded like we had added a sub-woofer, or had larger drivers. It is that good! Clarity is even better than the Vermeil Gold, as if layers of haze or fog have been removed from the background allowing you to see deeper into the music. Soundstage depth, width and imaging are the best we had ever heard. The midrange is like only tubes can offer. Rich, harmonic, smooth, glowing, hues and texture are all simply perfect. The highs are transparent, extended and open, all with a silky smooth liquid quality that is very much like live un-amplified music. Nothing is lacking, and yet these are completely free of edginess, brightness or grit. In fact the sound is so pure with an inky black, quiet background that every note within the full audio spectrum is holographic. These cables are the best cable on the planet, we mean it.

Vermeil Gold loudspeaker cables

This is a gold plated silver wire specifically developed for our interconnects. The silver wire is a 99.99% pure soft temper annealed silver wire. 99.99% pure gold plating is applied to the surface of the silver conductor in various thicknesses depending on the wire gauge. The finer wire has the thicker gold plating, allowing for more gold to be carrying the treble signal, thus greater colour and hue in the treble notes. The heavier gauge wire has thinner gold plating, allowing the bass signal to benefit from the power and slam of silver.

This allows for the unprecedented coefficient of resistance only found in silver while providing the sonic richness and naturalness of gold. Not only does this create a conductor beyond the performance of any other material, but due to gold’s resistance to corrosion, these wires are not prone to tarnish and any associated drop in performance. The other benefit is of course cost, for a fraction of the cost of solid gold, Vermeil wire provided 90% of the performance and 1/5th the cost

Reference Gold/Platinum

The Reference line is our attempt to see what is possible if cost is no object in cable design. These cables use exclusively 99.99% pure solid gold and/or 99.99% pure solid platinum wires throughout the cable. A one meter RCA cable uses over one ounce of metal as the conductors, so the costs actually change with the commodities market. Everything stated above when comparing the Hybrid Gold to the Vermeil Gold stand true when comparing the Reference with the Hybrid. It is just plain dumbfounding how good a cable can get. The signal is so clean and grain free, the notes just float effortlessly from your system. Even the most complex passages are understandable and sound as pure as live music. The midrange is as perfectly rich and inviting as possible, making small ensembles simply magical to hear. THIS IS THE PERFECT CABLE!

The difference between the Reference Solid Gold and the Reference Solid Gold/Platinum is subtle but significant. We would make the comparison from solid state to tubes. Both can be rich and effortless, but the final slam of bass will always go to the solid state. It is in the bass that the differences are most significant with the final bass slam and tightness going to the Reference Gold/Platinum. The treble is also a bit more open and extended. As to our recommendation we feel the Reference Solid Gold matches best with a solid state system and the Reference Solid Gold/Platinum best fits a tube or tube/solid state system.
